Among the research findings which have shown great potential include partial and full cement replacements using materials like palm oil fuel ash, palm oil clinker (POC) ash, rice husk ash, and coal bottom ash.

University Malaya (UM) scored 27th spot in the QS Quacquarelli Symonds University Ranking for Asia, up two positions from last year. UM’s vice-chancellor Tan Sri Professor Dr Mohd Amin Jalaludin said the new milestone achieved by the university this year is a result of better scores for the research output and impact indicators of the ranking measure.

Lighting That Traps Mosquitoes

It's a Venus flytrap for the streets – a solar- and wind-powered lamp that attracts and captures mosquitoes, aiming to reduce rates of mosquito-borne diseases while illuminating roads. Developed by researchers at Malaysia’s University of Malaya, the Eco-Greenergy outdoor lighting system consists of an LED street lamp that produces low levels of carbon dioxide to lure mosquitoes.

FES enables the paralyzed muscles to be controlled from an external source hence returning some level of function. As the group focuses mainly on transcutaneous FES, pairs of electrodes adhered onto the skin are used to administer the stimulation current across the muscles.

She said our present architecture, engineering, drainage and even landscaping were not in cohesion to create a sustainable environment.

Malaysian Teams Sweep 4 Awards at Shell Eco-Marathon Asia 2016

Universiti Malaya did the country proud, sweeping the top awards for its category at the Shell Eco-Marathon Asia 2016 in Manila, Philippines. Team Eco-Voyager UM came in second place for the Prototype Hydrogen Fuel Cell category, recording a mileage of 244km/m3 and improvement over their previous year’s performance.
