The programme of Master of Engineering (Biomedical) is by coursework in which the total credits allocated for the research component constitute less than thirty percent (30%) of the total credits for the whole programmed of study.
The University of Malaya caters the strong demand for biomedical manpower and among the forefront in any academic institution in Malaysia to expand biomedical knowledge. The prime objective of this program is to impart advanced knowledge and training in various areas of Biomedical Engineering to the students with quality standard of education process.
Prominent lecturers impose an uncompromising quality in research and teaching through lectures and practical in the programs. The postgraduate engineering courses are moderated by prominent academics from abroad. The UM Faculty of Engineering's reputation in training quality engineers and experts is obvious from the demand for its graduates by various industries in Malaysia and abroad.
The Program has a total load of forty-four (44) credits consisting of:
(a) Four (4) core courses and Research Project (12 credits); AND
(b) Five (5) elective courses whereby each course consist of four credits.
(1) Bachelor Degree in Physical Sciences (Physics, Chemistry and Engineering);
(2) Bachelor Degree in Biological Sciences (Medicine, Biology & biomedical) or its equivalent
(3) Other qualifications which are passed by Senate from time to time
