Master of Engineering (Material and Technology)

The programme of Master of Engineering (Material and Technology) is by coursework in which the total credits allocated for the research component constitute less than thirty percent (30%) of the total credits for the whole programmed of study.

The Master of Engineering (Material Engineering and Technology) programme is designed to meet the needs of industry by offering young engineers the critical skills needed to be successful in an engineering career.

The programme offers useful tools and strategies for succeeding in the progressively globalised engineering marketplace as well as enabling students to experience a unique combination of technical and supervisory understanding with the relevant skills required to advance as a leader of engineering projects and teams.

Course Structure

The Program has a total load of forty-two (42) credits consisting of:

(a) Six (6) core courses whereby each course carries three credits AND;

(b) Eight (8) elective courses whereby each course carries three credits;


Four (4) elective courses whereby each course carries three credits AND a Research Project (12 credits).

Entry Requirement

(1) A Bachelor’s Degree with Honours in a related Engineering field or equivalent degree;


(2) Other qualifications which are passed by Senate from time to time
