Students can now apply directly to study engineering at Universiti Malaya (UM) for the September 2017 academic year.
UM Dean of the Engineering School Prof Dr Noor Azuan Abu Osman said: “We are delighted to offer students an option to study in one of the world’s top engineering schools.”
“We place great emphasis on selecting exceptional students, and they are offered an opportunity to join our world-class faculty,” he said.
Applications are open to students with A-Levels, International Baccalaureate Diploma, Matriculation/ Foundation Studies, Diploma, STPM and other qualifications, which meet the programmes’ entry requirements.
“Our degrees are accredited by the Board of Engineers Malaysia and the Washington Accord, which allows our graduates to gain employment opportunities worldwide,” said Prof Noor Azuan, adding that the fees for the four-year degree programmes are RM90,000.
UM’s Faculty of Engineering was ranked 35th in the recent QS World University Rankings 2017, outperforming engineering schools such as Princeton University (37th), the University of Sydney (41st) and Cornell University (47th).
Under the QS World University Rankings by Subject, UM’s electrical engineering is ranked 23rd, mechanical engineering, 33rd and chemical engineering, 38th.
The five programmes offered are Bachelor of Biomedical Engineering, Bachelor of Chemical Engineering, Bachelor of Civil Engineering, Bachelor of Electrical Engineering and Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering.
